Diagramly Online Diagram Tool
Diagramly online diagram tool is an extremely easy to use and covers all you'll need to create stunning diagrams. The Diagramly interface is sectioned into three parts:
- Top tool bar.
- Left side shape pans.
- Main drawing area in the center.
Diagramly has all that you expect from a diagram tool, a wide selections of shapes and images, alignment tools, ordering functionality, different fonts, connectors, lines, arrows, and many more. It also has right-click menus that are very similar to what you'll see in tools like Microsoft Visio.
The beauty of Diagram is that everything flow just right, you simply drag a shape or an image into the main drawing pan, you can than connect and label entities on the diagram. The image below took me about 5 minutes to draw, it is a simple diagram of my home network . Based on my brief experience with Diagramly I think that it is the best online diagram tool that I used to date.
LucidChart Diagram and Flowcharts
LucidChart Diagram and Flowcharts is an online tool that allow users to create and collaborate on diagrams and flowcharts. LucidChart is a simple to use drag and drop functionality, you simply drag a shape from the left side menu to the diagram drawing board, you can than re size, change colors, add text, and manipulate the shape in different ways. LusidChart lets you pick from a verity of fonts, arrows, connectors and themes from the top menu and apply these to the shapes in the diagram of flowchart.
Once a diagram is created, you can share and collaborate on it with others (based on the plan you purchase). LucidChart offers free and paid plans, the free plan allows you to have one use and two collaborators with 25mb of storage space, and up to 60 objects on your diagram. The most expensive plan allow multiple users, collaborators, and up to 5gb of storage space for your flowcharts and diagrams.
Dabbleboard Online whiteboard
Dabbleboard online whiteboard and collaboration tool allows you to draw anything you would normally draw on a whiteboard and share it with anyone.
I just love it when I find websites like this one, it is so useful, so simple to use, and it can be used for work and fun stuff as well. Basically, you can draw anything on the screen, and you can share it with anyone, in turn, they can change and/or add things in real time so everyone can see the changes live.
How ever the beauty of this tool is its ease of use (you should see the tutorial video clip), for example, if you'd like to draw a square, you simply draw an L shape and the tool will automatically square it for you, but what if you really want to draw an L shape? no problem, click the "Freehand" button and the automatic action will not do anything so what you draw will stay as is. Same thing goes for circles, triangles, and other shapes. The developer of this online tool added another nice touch...a chat window, so when you share a "whiteboard" you can also chat with the people you are collaborating with.
I actually use it at work instead of a whiteboard when trying to explain our QA group how to test a project. I also used it to send a friend a cartoonish BBQ invitation.
Gliffy Online Diagram Tool
Gliffy diagram software allows you to create many types of diagrams in a Microsoft Visio style graphic interface. Gliffy offers a few options for free and paid users. As a free user, you can create unlimited number of diagrams but can only publicly share 5, to see the rest you'll need to log into your Gliffy account. Gliffy is very easy to use and offers many libraries of objects to include in the diagrams. In general it may be as good, and a much cheaper alternative to Microsoft Visio.
